APEX-C MBA 2000 meets in Shenyang
|
The APEX-C MBA 2000 class agreed three years ago that they would get together at Shenyang City, the head office of one of their classmates, Yu Liqun in 2008.
And so, like clockwork, all was planned by Class Secretary Zhou Bin and the group arrived on 29 February 2008 for their 3-day visit. Besides getting together to catch up, the group ensured the trip was a fruitful one by incorporating a forum to share their insights on "Work-life balance for the Individual, Family and Business".
Following a Welcome Dinner at the Marriott Hotel Shenyang, the group proceeded immediately for the forum where they shared not only their perspectives of the topic, but their personal stories as well.
At the forum, the group agreed that it was important to achieve a work-life balance, otherwise work goals may be achieved at the expense of the family and personal life. It was also pointed out that when measuring gains, one should also consider the intangibles, which may sometimes be more valuable than tangible gains.
The group then shared ways in which they attempted to achieve work-life balance. This ranged from spending time to do charity work, to playing golf, to finding time to enjoy the sights while on business trips.
In the true spirit of achieving a work-life balance, the group took time off the next day to take in the sights of Shenyang. Besides visiting General Zhang Xueliang's Mansion and catching a local cultural show at the Liu Laugen Grand Opera Stage, they also managed to find time to ski at the Qipanshan.
The trip was a fruitful one for the class, and having enjoyed it so much, they are already planning their next get-together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their graduation at the foot of Meili Snow Mountain at Shangri-la!
