NUS BBA Honous Class of 1982 Reunion

It was homecoming for 11 classmates from the BBA (Hons) Class of 1982 as they attended a get-together session organized by Professor Kulwant Singh, Interim Dean of NUS Business School, and the Global Alumni Network Office (GANO).

The event was held on 20 June 2008 at the current NUS Bukit Timah Campus – the place where their friendship of 26 years was first forged.

“We often tell others that we studied in three different universities while doing our undergraduate degree,” shared an alumnus as he recalled the time when he was an undergraduate student with the then Joint Campus.

The batch eventually graduated with a BBA degree conferred by the newly-established National University of Singapore.

Taking a short tour around the now renamed as CJ Koh Law Library, a few of them could still remember their favorite studying spots within the library.

Pointing to a section of the room, an alumnus remembered it being a section for Chinese books and where she used to spend hours going through her books.

Most memorable to the visiting group was the Central Processing Room, which they christened the “Abortion Room”, having being inspired by the computing term “abort” when an error occurred (which happened often!). Computer programming classes then involved punching cards with binary numbers by a machine similar to a typewriter.

The alumni then proceeded for dinner where Prof Singh updated on the latest developments of their alma mater.
