Members from the Eastern China Alumni Network Advisory Board and the Executive Committee met for the second time on 4 July 2008. The meeting was held at the residence of Mr Francis Yuen (BBA Hons 1981, MBA 1992), Chairman of ECAN Advisory Board, in Shanghai, China. In this meeting, recent events and developments for ECAN were summarized and presented to the committee.
Mr Calvin Yan, Director of NUS Business School, Shanghai Office, took the opportunity to provide the committee with an update of the fund-raising efforts by the three alumni networks: the Eastern China Alumni Network (ECAN), the Northern China Alumni Network (NCAN) and the Southern China Alumni Network (SCAN).
The three alumni networks had come together to contribute to the locals to help reconstruct schools affected by the Sichuan earthquake in May 2008. A total of RMB 730,000 has been raised while a second round of fund raising efforts is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2008.
Mr Yan also reported that there would be a tour to Tai Lake organized by SCAN in October 2008, while alumna Ms Josephine Tan (BBA 1991) proposed to set up a “Business Connection” platform to organize business related activities to assist alumni in financial difficulties. This platform would also allow alumni to share their expertise through communication and interaction. |
