Straight From The Heart

In a great show of support, alumni from various associations, such as the NUSBSA and the Mandarin Alumni Association, contributed generously towards the building of the new Shaw Foundation Alumni House.

Citing reasons for their contributions, alumni such as Ms Zhang Yiru (MBA 1998) shared that her close attachment to her alma mater motivated her. “I feel that I will always be a student at NUS. I am therefore very glad to be able to play my part in making my contribution to the Alumni House.”

“We wanted to do something meaningful, so we made contributions as a class,” said Mr Tan Boon Chin (APEX-E MBA 2003), raising $1,800 for the fund in September 2007.

The fundraising efforts began in September 2002. In July 2003, the NUSBSA donated $10,000 to the fund. The Mandarin Alumni donated a total of $10,800 in January 2003 and in May 2008. To date, alumni from NUS Business School donated a total of $22,600.

Slated to be completed in the third quarter of 2008, the Alumni House looks set to add on to the series of distinctive landmarks that have sprung up at the Kent Ridge campus over the past few years.

Located conveniently within the campus grounds, the Alumni House will serve as a centralized location where alumni members from various associations can congregate. It will house a business centre, a 300-seat auditorium and seminar rooms which can be used for a whole host of activities.

Donors will be recognized on the Alumni House Donors’ Wall that will be placed on the second storey of the new building.
