When the NUS Business School alumni from class 2007-2009 gathered for their reunion dinner at NUSS Kent Ridge Guild House on 3 November 2017, it was like no time had passed. Given that the last occasion they met was during graduation which was almost 10 years ago, it was a long-awaited affair indeed. But time had little effect on the enthusiasm and camaraderie of the attendees. Shouts of recognition echoed around the room as participants spotted old friends. Loud chatter and laughter could be heard as classmates caught up over drinks and regaled each other with interesting anecdotes and stories. Adding to the atmosphere was a video presentation of photos from their schooling days and memory games that helped to bring back the group’s cherished recollections of NUS Business School, covering everything from the Western Food stall uncle to their favourite love song (You’re Beautiful by James Blunt) from that era. The emcee for the evening was Lee Ming Hui (BBA 2008), who is also Director (Youth Wing) of NUS Business School Alumni Association (NUSBSA).

Alumni also flew in especially for this reunion event from Bangalore (Rahul Tadimalla, MBA 2007, President of Bangalore Business School Alumni Chapter), Hong Kong (Jiang Min from EMBA 2007, Committee Member of Hong Kong Business School Alumni Chapter), India (Sarvesh Kapoor, MBA 2007), Indonesia (Brian Chen Jiawen, BBA 2008) and South Korea (Park Jae Woo, MBA 2007, President of Seoul Business School Alumni Chapter and Choi Yun Mee from MBA 2007, Auditor of Seoul Business School Alumni Chapter) to join in the celebrations.

A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring MoolahSense CEO Lawrence Yong (BBA 2002) and CashShield CEO Justin Lie (BBA 2010) who shared about their entrepreneurial journey. Also on the panel was entrepreneurship expert Professor Michael Frese and Deputy Dean Professor Hum Sin Hoon, who was the moderator.

Earlier in the day, Professor Joseph Cherian, Director, CAMRI, held a masterclass “The Opportunity in Infrastructure for Emerging Markets” for our alumni on how infrastructure assets can be an attractive value proposition.

The event saw more than 240 alumni, faculty, staff and students.
